Business Meeting November 2007
November 7, 2007 - Final preparations for our Haystack Auction were discussed. Chief Durstine thanked everyone for helping with the recent rash of fires and also for volunteering for various duties (i.e. Standing by at football games, work details at the station, etc). Two new probationary members were appointed. See you all on Friday at the Auction!
Business Meeting October 2007
October 3, 2007 - With regret the fire department accepted resignations from Josh Raymond and Brendon Curtis. We wish you both good luck in your future endeavors. Two applications were reviewed for potential membership. Chief Durstine will appoint new probationary members at next month's business meeting.
Johnny Appleseed Days - Parade and Water Barrel Fight
June 26, 2007 - This year's Johnny Appleseed Days will be July 27th and 28th. The parade will be on Saturday at 3:30 PM and the Water Barrel Fights will start at 6:00 PM at the Apple Creek Park. Click HERE for a printable pdf file. Any questions? Call the fire department @ 330.698.1371.
Business Meeting April 2007
April 4, 2007 - Corey Orr is off probation, and is now a firefighter. A new face was introduced at the meeting as a hopeful volunteer, we will discuss at next meeting and vote. Our new Sutphen truck will be in house to be lettered and then will head to FDIC. We are very excited about this and of course can't wait to have it in service. Pictures will be posted soon.
Business Meeting June 2006
June 7, 2006 - During our June business meeting, two new probationary members were approved. Brian Stoffer and Cory Orr. Josh Krug is off of probation and Ryan Davies is back on probation. Sadly Rosa Miller and her family had to move. Thank you Rosa for being a dedicated member during your short stay. You will be missed.
Business Meeting April 2006
April 5, 2006 - During our April business meeting, it was announced that Kira Uhler will be joining the department as a probationary EMT-B. Normal probation length is 1 year for EMTs. Welcome Kira!
Business Meeting March 2006
March 1, 2006 - During our March business meeting we had a few member changes. Due to the change in assistant chief several unit numbers were changed, you can see the member page for this info. Probationary firefighter Brendon Curtis is no longer on probation and is now one of our firefighters. Congrats Brendon. Also, there was an application submitted by a new EMT-B in the area we will vote on her in April.
Haystack Supper and Auction News
November 27, 2005 - Once again, The supper and Auction was a great success, due much in part to all of the folks and companies who donated time and items. The department made over $21,000 which will go towards the purchase of a new engine. We are deeply grateful to our community for everything contributed for this event.

Prom Promise 2005
May 5, 2005 - Mock Disaster set up for students of Waynedale High School to demonstrate the dangers of drunk driving. This is done every other year for the students. This also provides valuable training for fire and EMS personnel. Please click the link for pictures; Waynedale Prom Promise 2005.

State-wide Mutual Aid
September 30, 2004 - In September, due to severe flooding in Southern Ohio, the state-wide mutual aid system was activated a total of three times. Firefighters, representing a dozen area fire departments, were called upon to assist Belmont County fire departments, as well as Marietta. State-wide mutual aid deployment consists of one 24 hour shift, but crews assisted in clean-up for up to 72 hours. Tanker 108 and Grass unit 106 from the Apple Creek VFD assisted in two mutual aid calls helping with relief efforts. Upon returning, fire crews from the ACVFD remained at the station for several hours cleaning up.

9-11 Tribute
September 4, 2004 - On September 4, 2004, at the Wayne County Speedway, members from the Apple Creek and Town & Country Volunteer Fire Departments participated in a tribute to the heroes and victims of 9-11.

Trench Rescue Operations
July 26, 2004 - Recently ACVFD had several members, in a joint venture with members from Kidron and Dalton Fire Departments, receive awareness level certification in Trench Rescue Operations from T.R.S. (Technical Rescue Solutions, Inc.) The next level in this specialized rescue training is the Operations level, in which members from all three departments will participate.
New Probationary Member
June 2, 2004 - A new probationary member has joined the EMT ranks. Congratulations to Jess Zion, she just passed the National Registry exam. As soon as she receives her card she will be official.

Haystack Supper and Auction News
December 15, 2003 - The supper and Auction was a great success, due much in part to all of the folks and companies who donated time and items. The department made over $14,000 which helped purchase our first thermal imaging camera and also went towards the finish of our new tanker. We can't thank the community enough for everything contributed for this event.
Fire Prevention Week at Apple Creek Elementary School
October 31, 2003 - Apple Creek Volunteer Firefighters spent some time, during Fire Prevention Week, educating the students at Apple Creek Elementary school on fire safety and fire prevention. The activities included a coloring contest, with the winners receiving a certificate and a ride on a fire truck during the 2004 Johnny Appleseed Parade and also included spending some time going over the workings of the fire engine (101).
